My work has appeared in print or online at The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, The Atlantic, The Guardian, GQ, The Believer, Bookforum, SSENSE, Chicago Tribune, and elsewhere.
I run Hagfish, a small press that reissues out-of-print and forgotten books by women writers, with Julia Ringo. We also offer a range of editing services to writers, editors, and agents. If you’re interested in working with us, get in touch. You can read more about Hagfish in The New York Times.
In 2018, I began reading and transcribing the unpublished fiction of the late author and journalist Katherine Dunn. From that work came Toad, a novel roundly rejected by editors when Dunn first attempted to get it published in the 1970s, and which MCDxFSG published, to critical acclaim, in 2022. Near Flesh, a collection of Dunn’s short stories, most of which have never been published, followed in 2025. You can read more about my work in Dunn’s archive at The New Yorker.
